Weather: Completely overcast during early morning yet visibility at horizon near 5 miles. Winds and seas calm during morning. Temperature cool. Skies starting to clear around 10:30 local and completely clear by 12:45 local. Afternoon was clear with only a thin marine haze on horizon. Full sun and shadows present throughout afternoon. Clouds returning after 16:00 local and again fully cloudy by 17:15 local. Winds steadily increasing during afternoon sampling to almost 20 knots from west.
Instrumentation used: Sky camera system was run from 17:00 GMT – 0:30 GMT (September 12, 2008). Images were taken in cycles that took 1 image with each appropriate spectral filter and polarizer combination. A typical cycle took about 6 minutes to complete and cycles were started every 15 minutes. Microtops sunphotometers were also taken every 15 minutes corresponding to the Sky camera’s sampling schedule. The microtops were taken from 20:15 GMT – 23:45 GMT.
