Ocean Polarized Radiance Distribution
This work was funded, with different emphasis by ONR and by NASA. The NASA emphasis is on the upwelling radiance distribution, in particular as it affects the remote sensing signal. The most recent ONR effort has been aimed at understanding the downwelling radiance distribution, particularly near the surface. This ONR work is part of the RaDYO program (Radiance in the upper ocean).
As part of this ONR work we participated in two cruises with our new radiance distribution camera system (DPOL). This link moves you to information on this work.
The NASA supported work revolves around the upwelling radiance distribution, and data was collected using both the new DPOL instrument, and an older instrument which was based on combining several NuRads instruments.
