Moby Net

MarONet is a NASA sponsored effort to build a version of MOBY that can support the vicarious calibration of the future PACE sensor, by making measurements down to 350 nm, along with allowing the system to be deployed at a location other than Hawaii, but still calibrated in common with the MOBY deployed in Hawaii. This involves developing an optical system that can work down to 350 nm, developing a traveling source/monitor to allow the stability of the optical system to be monitored, and developing the MOBY optical system so it can be removed while in place. The current plan is to install this instrument off of Perth, Australia in Late 2022/early 2023. We will be installing it for a test off of Lanai Hawaii in June 2021.
